24-Year-Old Woman Killed in Crash on Southbound 605 Freeway in Norwalk

A 24-year-old woman was killed early Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash on the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Norwalk that prompted the closure of a stretch of the freeway for several hours.

The collision was reported just south of Rosecrans Avenue about 3:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

One of the vehicles went from the slow lane across all lanes of traffic and crashed into the center divider and overturned, facing the wrong way in the No. 1 lane of the freeway, according to the CHP.

The coroner’s office identified the victim as Alyssa Alexus Contreras, of La Puente.

All southbound lanes near Rosecrans Avenue were closed about 4:05 a.m., triggering a SigAlert. Two lanes were reopened about two hours afterward, and all lanes were reopened about 8:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
